New Balance 992 collection

The history of the New Balance 992

Released in 2006, the New Balance 992 is considered a classic in the running shoe world. It was one of many shoes that were produced at the time with cushioning technology dubbed ABZORB, which has been used in other popular New Balance models including the 890 and 996. Made in America, the 992 is still produced today but updates to materials and silhouettes have moved away from its original design features.

The history of the New Balance 992

The New Balance 992 is the latest in the venerable Made in the USA series, succeeding the 991 and 990v2. Like its predecessors, it's a durable running shoe that combines premium materials with advanced manufacturing techniques. The shoe's construction is unique not just for being American-made, but for blending classic styling and modern execution. It also pays homage to one of New Balance's most iconic silhouettes, the 990v4.

The characteristics of the New Balance 992

The New Balance 992 is made with a combination of pigskin, suede and mesh. The upper is made of premium pigskin suede while the outsole is made of rubber. The midsole features ENCAP, which provides cushioning and durability. The New Balance 992 also has a 990v4 last, which makes it an appropriate width for wide feet.

The New Balance 992 collaborations

New Balance, an American company that produces footwear for both casual and athletic uses, introduced the 992 in 2011 to be a modern all-purpose sneaker. The shoe has since been embraced by numerous artists from Nike to Stüssy, but it's become synonymous with New Balance and its signature style of simplicity: minimalistic design, clean lines, and utilitarian use of materials. The shoes' popularity was helped along by the fact that they were released at a time when many brands were selling products with unnecessary embellishments or fads—and even though the 992s weren't flashy, they were still sought after for their functionality.

The brand recently announced three limited-edition collaborations featuring many different artists and designers. For this series of pop-culture mashups, New Balance teamed up with Kanye West's Yeezy label (known for bold designs), Stüssy (a streetwear brand known for colorful afghans), KITH (a luxury lifestyle clothing brand known for standout sneakers and apparel), Joe Freshgoods (a high-end fashion and lifestyle collection known for innovative fabrics and styles), Casablanca (an Italian shoe company renowned for its close attention to quality control that allows customers to try on shoes before purchasing them on site) Sneakersnstuff (an online retailer specializing in sneakers based out of New York City)
